You can get my Pumpkin Bucket Hat crochet pattern right here at HELLOhappy, Etsy, Ravelry, and ribblr.

I can't believe it's been over a year since I released a pdf crochet pattern. Like I absolutely cannot fathom this concept, even though it's my life. I've been spending the last year being burnt out and trying to get my youtube channel going, but of course I've not been making enough videos for that to happen because of the burn out.

What caused the burn out? Well my crochet sales have absolutely tanked over the last 2 years, so I had to get a part time job, except it ended up being a mostly full time job working at a tourist shop on the seattle waterfront, and I was absolutely pushed to my physical limit with that job. I actually think I have permanent injuries...but time will tell. I have a new job now, it's very physically undemanding, and properly part time, so I hope I can get back into the creative swing of things and be a proper artist & creator again.

But anyway, back to the pattern! My pumpkin bucket hat is an advanced beginner level pattern, so you need to be very comfortable with the basics, and you'll probably learn some new skills! This hat can also easily be worked up in 1 single day, so if you're a master level procrastinator, this is perfect for you.

You might be wondering how the mouth was made, so I'll tell you: fabric glue! If you've never played around with fabric glue, this will be a fun way to see how much of a game changer it can be.

Supplies

  • Super bulky (weight 6) polyester yarn (I used loops & threads demi purl)
  • Worsted (weight 4) yarn
  • 9mm and 4mm hooks
  • yarn needle
  • 9 inch zipper
  • scissors
  • small amount of stuffing
  • 20mm domed button eyes
  • fabric glue & pins OR sewing needle & thread

I hope I get to see some unique designs you guys come up with for the face! The possibilities are pretty much endless. Animal ears would also be a super cute addition.

As I did several times last year, I've once again photoshopped myself into a different landscape background, because taking photos of myself outside in public is too annoying haha. This time I used a photo of a pretty park in Japan I took in 2023.
