My last pattern was a bear bag, and my new pattern is a bear bag. Huh. But while the last one was made with dk weight yarn and takes a long time to finish, this one is made with super bulky and works up super quickly! Meet my new Fuzzy Bear Belt Bag:

You can get the pattern here at HELLOhappy, EtsyRavelry, and Ribblr.

This is an intermediate level pattern. The crochet itself is very simple, but sewing face parts made of different textured and weighted yarns is challenging! Plus there's the zipper. A confident beginner could do this, but it'll be a struggle at times.

Supplies

Now as for yarn suggestions, really any super bulky will work, even an acrylic or wool. But if you want it to be shiny, you'll want to use a chenille yarn! A good choice would be Premier Parfait Chunky or Big Twist Cuddle. I've never used Paintbox Chenille before, but it has good reviews, so I feel comfortable recommending it.

A plush yarn like Bernat Baby Blanket or Loops & Threads Sweet Snuggles Lite would also be very cute.

The yarn I actually used is one I personally don't recommend, but since I bought it, I used it. It's Hobbii Baby Snuggles. It sheds like crazy. If you look at it the wrong way it'll shed. It's possible I just got a defective one, a factory mistake, but personally I don't think it's worth trying again. Let me know if you had a good experience with it in the comments!

The buckle is definitely optional, but it makes it really easy to switch from wearing the bag on your chest, to wearing it on your hips. Plus it makes the strap length adjustable, which is pretty necessary to switch up how you wear it. Plus, as we know, crochet straps stretch out over time, so being able to tighten it easily is great!
