It's mushroom season! And with how oddly popular (though definitely niche) statement balaclavas suddenly became last winter, I thought I wanted to have a go! So here's my new mushroom balaclava crochet pattern!
Now I know it's not exactly a balaclava, since the face is open, but...well, marketing, okay?! Haha. Besides, some balaclavas on the internet just hug the face, not cover it, and with the drawstring, you can make it hug your face! So I'm keeping the name. And that's final lol.
The crochet pattern is available here at HELLOhappy, Etsy, Ravelry, Ribblr, and soon at LoveCrafts.
See? Face hugging.
I've done something a bit different for this pattern...I've included a video for part of it! The cowl part might be a little confusing, so I went and recorded how to crochet it. Woo! The video link is included inside of the PDF when the part comes up.
I'd say this is a fairly beginner friendly pattern, especially with the video I included. The stitches are basic and it has a pretty simple contstruction.
Supplies
- Super Bulky (weight 6) yarn - 2 strands held together for part of the pattern (I used Cozy Wool from Loops & Threads)
- 5mm, and 6mm hooks
- yarn needle
So excited to see all of the modifications everyone comes up with. :) Be sure to tag me on social media if you make a mushroom balaclava!
Also I took like 800 photos, so here's another one.
